Using Desmos: TeX (LaTeX) Command Reference
Created: 2025/3/29
Last Update: 2025/3/31

This is a list of TeX\TeX (LaTeX\LaTeX) commands that can be used in Desmos labels and expressions. Basically, most standard TeX\TeX commands are supported, but some are not, and there are also a few commands unique to Desmos.

Some of them don't seem to have any clear purpose or aren't obviously supported, but this list includes all commands that Desmos recognizes.

When using TeX\TeX in labels, enclose the relevant part in ` (backticks). For more details, please refer to this article.

Using Desmos: Points (Labels) and Vectors

Also, note that some commands may not be recognized properly when used within expressions.

Greek Letters

All of these work properly within expressions and can be used as variables, etc.

Math Functions

Although some functions can technically be used as commands, if they aren’t fully supported, their output may appear incorrect. (This might be fixed in a future update.)

Notes on \left and \right

These two commands are used as a pair. They automatically adjust the size of the parentheses to match the content inside, so they’re useful for enclosing large expressions such as fractions.

For the left bracket, you can use any of the following: \left( \left[ \left| \left\{ \left\langle \left\lVert, which correspond to ( [ { (\ [\ |\ \{\ \langle\ \lVert.

For the right bracket, you can use any of the following: \right) \right] \right| \right\} \right\rangle \right\rVert, which correspond to ) ] } )\ ]\ |\ \}\ \rangle\ \rVert.

Depending on the type of bracket, some require a backslash while others do not. It’s also possible to use different types of brackets on the left and right.

Special Commands

These are likely used internally and should probably not be used manually.

OutputCommandNotes
\tildeNbspIt seems that a non-breaking space is inserted. Is it recognized as \sim?
\class{class name}{a}You can wrap content in a span tag with any class name.
Nesting is also possible, so with the right class names, you can technically apply CSS styles.
